안녕하세요 여러분,
2022년의 마지막 분기(quarter)가 시작되었습니다. 아침 저녁 공기가 꽤 선선해졌어요.
지난달 심플스텝스 팀은 3년 만의 시애틀 밋업과 베이지역에서 열린 K-night 커뮤니티 세션에 참여했어요. 현장에서 느낀 오프라인 이벤트의 열기와 힘을 후기 및 소감으로 여러분과 공유할게요.
10월에도 여러 프로그램과 이벤트가 열립니다. 다음 단계 커리어 방향과 목표를 설계하는 워크숍 <Next Steps>는 주 1회 미팅, 2주 동안 진행됩니다. 오랜만에 커리어를 소개하는 커피 챗도 준비했어요. 10월13일(목), Salesforce의 VP of Engineering 강지민 님이 Salesforce certified administrator 커리어에 대해 소개하고 참가자들과 Q&A 시간을 갖습니다. Salesforce 18년 차 강지민 님에게 궁금한 것 모두 물어보세요. 10월 20일(목요일) 웨비나에서는 Culture Flipper 팀에서 직접 현장에서 이루어지는 번역 일과 번역 교육 프로그램에 대해 소개할 예정이에요. 마지막 주에는 커리어 어드바이저 팀에서 인터뷰 팁에 대한 커피챗에 초대합니다. 인터뷰 준비하면서 궁금했던 질문 오셔서 해결하시기 바랍니다.

The Next Steps workshops are a series of career development workshops that offer women returning to work an opportunity to outline their next career plans. Being ready for your next career move means preparing for your life. In the workshops, you will learn what motivates you to return to work and the obstacles leading to hesitation. We will talk about how to prioritize your work and life and how to find the right work style for you. After this meeting, you will begin to frame a career goal to build and sustain momentum.

Salesforce is a global company that makes cloud-based software designed to help businesses (the #1 CRM company worldwide). It has over 150,000 customers globally and projects to create 4.2 million jobs in the salesforce ecosystem by 2024. As a result, there is a big demand for Salesforce jobs such as Salesforce administrators, Salesforce developers, Salesforce architects, etc. According to Salesforce Trailhead, Salesforce skills are the 3rd most in-demand technical skill, and this year alone, it has created 500k new jobs. A Salesforce career is a great option if you are interested in a technical career but intimidated by programming languages. All the learning material is available for free by Salesforce, and there are tons of Salesforce communities who are willing to help you to succeed. In this coffee chat, Jimin will talk about what are Salesforce skills, how to skill them up, and how to reboot your technical career with Salesforce.

About the Rabbit Plane Pilot Program
With the decision to teach people outside the organization about its own collaborative localization process, Culture Flipper embarks on an exciting experiment to produce affordable, quality-assured translations for high-volume, nuanced content. This is how Rabbit Plane was born.
Rabbit Plane is a guided community translation training platform where translators (mentees) learn to effectively edit machine translations for nuanced content such as web novels, digital comics, and video subtitles under the guidance of mentors.
Its first-course “Korean-to-English Web Novel Translation” using Memorize by Ro Yu-jin (from Joara, Korea’s oldest and largest web novel platform), is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, and end on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

9월 17일, 시애틀에서 심플스텝스 밋업이 열렸고 마운틴뷰에서는 Bay Area K Group의 K-Night이 열렸습니다.

시애틀 밋업 후기
2019년 여름 시애틀에서의 첫 만남 이후 3년 만에 시애틀에서 오프라인 이벤트를 가졌습니다. 토요일 아침 분주한 공항의 무척 긴 security line 마저 오늘 밋업의 좋은 예감이라 여기며 설레는 마음으로 발길을 옮겼어요.
시애틀 밋업 내용 전에 잠깐 심플스텝스 커뮤니티의 진화에 대해 이야기할께요. 심플스텝스가 생긴 첫해에는 미국에서 다시 경력을 시작하고 싶은 분들이 대부분이었는데, 2~3년이 지나면서 취업하신 분들이 조금씩 늘어나게 되었지요. 첫 시작만큼 어려운 것이 일하는 곳에서 인정받으며 성장해나가는 것인데요, 첫 발을 내딪은 분들이 새로 시작한 일에 잘 적응하고 능력을 펼쳐나가는데 도움되는 프로그램과 네트워킹 이벤트를 새롭게 만들어나가기 시작했거든요. 4~5년이 되니 그 사이 이직도 하고 승진도 하고 창업도 하신 분들이 점점 많아졌어요. 본인 팀에서 리크루팅한다는 공지도 올리시고요. 이젠 커뮤니티에서 더욱 다양한 이야기를 나눌 수 있게 된거죠.

K-Night 후기
소문 난 잔치에 먹을 게 없다는 말이 있습니다. 적어도 2022 K-Night에 해당하는 말은 아니었습니다. 화면에서가 아니라 실제로 살아 움직이는 여러 사람과 모여 이야기하는 네트워킹의 장이라니! 400여 명이 신청했다는 것을 보면, 모두 한마음으로 이런 오프라인 만남을 고대했다는 거겠죠?
K-Night 2022는 그런 기대에 부응하기 위해 애쓴 흔적이 확연했습니다. REUNITE라는 주제 아래 키노트 연설인 Re-Discover를 필두로 Re-Flect, Re-Invent, Revive, Re-Connect 이렇게 4부로 이루어진 풍성한 차림표로 사람들의 이목을 집중시켰습니다.
가장 좋았던 세션 하나만을 꼽기 힘들 정도로, 여러 분야의 인사들이 다양한 이야기를 해주셨습니다. 테크 쪽 종사자가 많은 실리콘밸리의 K-group답게 자율주행, AI, 블록체인 등의 소위 핫한 이슈를 놓지 않으면서도 커리어, 다양성, 행복이라는 추상적인 분야까지 아우르는 구성에 감탄했습니다. 전체적으로 여성 연사가 많았던 점도 눈길을 끌었습니다.
